Every day it seems that we hear about some breakthrough in dentistry that’s been developed to improve the patient experience in some way. This is especially true with state-of-the-art dental technology that helps keep you informed, streamlines your appointments, and allows our dentists to provide a wealth of treatments and services.

Dr. Andriy Krayniy and Dr. Rosemarie Zimerman are proud to stay current with these advancements to provide you with the highest standard of comfortable, quality dentistry possible. We look forward to demonstrating how our technology benefits you, but until then, please take a moment to see what we currently offer our patients.

Nitrous Oxide

We use nitrous oxide, also referred to as “laughing gas,” to help patients who are nervous or just want a calmer experience at the dental office. Our busy patients appreciate that nitrous oxide doesn’t produce any drowsy side effects, which enables them to resume their usual activities right after their dental appointment. It’s also easy to administer nitrous oxide through a small mask that sits over your nose because you simply have to breathe normally to feel its effects.

Since the effects of nitrous oxide are mild, you won’t go to sleep, and you will remain fully conscious. We will be able to communicate with each other, but you’ll feel very calm and drowsy throughout your appointment. When we finish your procedure, we’ll stop the flow of nitrous gas and have you inhale pure oxygen for several minutes. You’ll leave our office feeling alert and refreshed and ready to take on the rest of your day.

Digital X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays are invaluable because they allow our dentists to get a full picture of what is happening with your oral health at any given moment. Many common dental conditions like tooth decay and gum disease begin to develop where we can’t see them, inside the teeth or under the gums. Identifying these issues on a dental x-ray allows us to diagnose them when in their earliest stages and provide appropriate treatment before they threaten your oral health.

Because the x-ray images we take are digital, we can reduce your radiation exposure by as much as 80 percent compared to traditional x-rays. Digital x-rays also produce crisp, highly-detailed images that we can show you on your chairside monitor. Our dentists can point out the problem area to you, and seeing it for yourself helps you understand why they recommend treatment.

Your x-ray images are stored securely on our in-house network, and we can pull them up quickly to refer to them in the future or to send to your insurance company or specialists as needed.

iTero 5D Digital Scanner

Dentistry is an ever-evolving field, and Dr. Krayniy prides himself on staying current with advancements that make your visits more comfortable, efficient, and produce better treatment outcomes.

When planning restorative or orthodontic work, it's crucial to obtain very accurate impressions of your teeth to use as models. In the past, this involved biting down on a metal tray of cold paste and holding it between your teeth while you waited for the material to set.

If you have had impressions taken in this way, you know that it’s not a comfortable sensation. Additionally, this method did not always produce the accurate results required, and the process would need to be repeated.

Instead of uncomfortable paste, we use an intraoral scanner that takes digital impressions to help create highly accurate models of your teeth. Our dentists use the models to plan and design dental crowns, veneers, and implant restorations. They are also invaluable for helping us diagnose orthodontic problems and plan and monitor Invisalign treatment to compare expected outcomes with actual results.

Laser Dentistry

Laser technology has been used for decades to improve the comfort, efficiency, and outcomes of certain medical procedures. Today, Dr. Krayniy and Dr. Zimmerman are pleased to offer the same benefits with laser dentistry available at our New York City dental office.

Because laser dentistry is non-invasive, our dentists can offer more efficient procedures with minimal bleeding and faster recovery times. Some of the procedures we can perform with dental lasers are:

  • Periodontal disease treatment – We use lasers to eliminate bacteria from periodontal pockets and for minor gum surgery.
  • Cosmetic gum recontouring – Dental lasers allow us to reshape and recontour gum tissue to perfect your appearance by eliminating a “gummy smile.”
  • Crown lengthening - With dental lasers, we can perform a procedure that lengthens the appearance of a tooth. This is useful for cosmetic purposes and to ensure proper placement of dental crowns.
